Well it's funny how even though I have been incredibly hung over all day, the footy manages to cheer me up! Fresh as a daisy now me lol. We battered Man Utd and proved we aren't quite as bad a team as we thought.

Other than that, I had a good time last night. Even though I got stood up, I called wifey and said "get your fit arse into town we'll have some shots in the Revolution" and two hours later she was with me.

I've been married for 6 months today!!! It's a miracle!!!! Ok maybe not quite a miracle but it feels like it was only last month (I wont say yesterday because everything feels like it happened yesterday for some reason, so it gets a little cluttered).

Anyways, we were talking about songs we rather like, and we were listening to Michelle by the Beatles. This led to the Paul McCartney song, Live and Let Die, which in turn led to A-ha, Living Daylights (James Bond connection obviously). This in turn led to this rather freaky version of their most famous song...

It's rather humorous even if you don't like the original.

So it's been a rather short week for me. We went to Alton Towers on Monday, stayed in Splash Landings hotel on Monday night and then spent the next day in Alton Towers. The weather was gorgeous on Monday, and because it was the Halloween Scarefest there were many different "Live" shows taking place.

There was the 'Boiler House', which was basically a disused boiler house where many people were murdered in the 80's. Coincidentally is was in Alton Towers and just at the point we happened to be there the freaky people who committed the murders escaped from the maximum security prison they were being held in. And where is the first place they would go to hide? Back to their old haunting ground of course!!!!

So because we're fearless (along with thousands of other Alton Towers dwellers) we decided to go into the boiler house and check it out (like they would in the movies).

We got horribly murdered but it was a lot of fun!!!!! (And quite scary when the girls screamed in my ears).

They also had something called "The field of 1000 screams". Now this I found to be the best part of our time in Alton Towers. It's built inside a cornfield, a kind of maze that we have to walk through to get out at the other side. Usually there is a group of ten people, however because we were the last group of the night, there were only four of us. So we held each others shoulders and creeped through the corn looking for our way out, only to be horribly attacked and eaten by several zombies. I was lucky to come out alive!

But I did, so here I am!

The strange thing is today I bought some Twinings Lapsang Souchong tea and it's really rather smoked. It smells like zombies, because they smelt rather smoked too - obviously from the smoke in the various boiler rooms and barns.

Yes it was a wonderful weekend. But now I am poor and at home on a Friday night. £5.50 for 5 doughnuts - for the love of God...

I've been to the cinema so much lately though, I guess this is the consequence of such. Mind you, the films were rather good!!

District 9
Surrogates
Zombieland
Couples Retreat

All four are most definitely worth seeing especially District 9 and Zombieland. The other two could well be dvd films, but the atmosphere during Couples Retreat was better in the cinema because everyone was laughing (and laughing is contagious of course).

Fun fun times!

I'm really looking forward to this weekend, one reason being today is PAYDAY (Ceeeeelebrate good times come on!!!!) and so the first weekend after pay day is always a good one. Secondly we're heading off to a secret retreat on Monday, only to have to return home on Tuesday alas. But still it's a surprise and I hope wifey likes it - she just has to make sure she brings her swimming stuff.

On Wednesday I have to go to a technical seminar (joy) somewhere funky in the North West. It's all go for me in work at the moment, my job is changing whilst at the same time being rather wonderful. I really hope it lasts, I have had my seven years worth I guess it can't last forever though. And with the fact that we've just had our mortgage offer through life is looking good!! We just need to raise another £4000 within the next six months and we're all set to go.

I can't wait to have my own house to potter round in. Especially in the garden. I want to build a pond and some decking because in the summer I love how tranquil life can be reading and listening to the fountain (thinking ahead of course lol we haven't even viewed a single house).

Yes it is all go - first hurdle though is getting rid of this big fat popcorn belly!!...

One hour later I got up and had a shower, got ready for work and had a rather relaxing drive to my office contemplating the wonderful fact that it's Friday.

I settled in, made myself a nice cup of black earl grey, one sugar, and switched on my PC. My emails were empty, I had caught up on my work - finally! I tidied up my documentation for one hour and then the boss shouts over to me...

"I've been driving around with something in my boot all week but you haven't been in the office to collect it. I was driving past Oddbins last weekend and your favourite beer was on offer so I bought you a crate. I'm just waiting for a call and then afterwards we can head down to the car park and we'll do the boot to boot transfer."

Luckily I had parked right next to the boss, and ten minutes later there was a crate of Veltins beer in my boot. It's by my feet on the floor as we speak ready for tomorrow night.

My blackberry made it's usual futuristic bleep - I had an email. A reminder in reference to the hotel I have booked for 17th October in Ashton-under-Lyne. Oh balls, I wish I hadn't bought a non-refundable room now that Dina has cancelled her birthday party due to some religious festival I don't quite understand. £55 wasted. Oh well I'll give them a call and see if they are understanding.

Ten minutes later after a nice chat with a rather lovely lady, my Blackberry made that rather familiar bleep once more - another email.

"We are sorry you have decided to cancel, you will receive your refund between five and ten days".

Woohooo, £55 richer - happy days!

I think I'll take wifey to Blackpool tonight to see the lights, something everyone must do at least once in their lives.

My colleague turns around and asks me a strange question...

"What time will you be going to the firework display?"
"What firework display?"
"Aren't you going???"
"What firework display?"
"The one in Southport, the competition"
"Oh, well first I've heard. I'm off to Blackpool to see the lights, so I guess not"

6pm arrives, "I'll have the soup for starter and the salmon fishcakes with a baked potato". There I was sitting in Southport, Frankie and Benny's enjoying a rather romantic meal - ahhh this is the life.

7.30pm arrives, the rain stops and we walk about twenty yards from Frankie and Benny's. A few sample fireworks explode in the sky, and we chat happily about our usual stupid stuff.

8pm arrives and we are greeted by one of the best firework displays I have ever seen. Better than Blackpool lights.

9pm arrives and the displays have finished. It's raining again but it's ok because luckily I had my trusty wedding umbrella still in my boot just a few yards away.

9.30pm arrives and there we are munching on sweet popcorn and drinking Coke. Surrogates has just started. Yes this is the life.

11.52pm arrives and I am writing a blog having just seen a rather amazing film. It reminds me of sitting here hours on end (often without sleep) chatting online - missing out on life.

I'm not missing out on life any more. Yes - this is the life! Now I have something to blog about!

So it's my mums birthday tomorrow and I've bought her something really rather cool. Well it looks cool, I'm not sure how good it is in practice.

As you probably know, my mum hasn't been so well for a fair few years now and spends a lot of time alone with Tia Maria (her dog, not the drink thank God). For the past few weeks I have been considering various gifts that would give to my mum hours of mental stimulation (that doesn't involve Coronation Street, Eastender, Strictly or X-Factor) and so I came up with this...

It's a funky little device that burns all your LP's (for you youngies, that's the spinny vinyl thing on the top) in MP3 format onto a pen stick, SD card or a USB pendrive. Since my mum has about 2000 LP's this will be hours (maybe years) of fun for her. The quality might not be so amazing as a song you can download, but this is free and easy!

So do you think she'll like it?

Oh, and it also plays the LP's, CD's and MP3's on the funky speakers as shown, so we can't go wrong.

So did everyone celebrate a 250th birthday last night? I did, I had two Guinness before I was too full and so I moved on to whatever the guest beer was at the Scotch Piper last night. We walked down there with Tia Maria (little Yorkie Terrier as mentioned earlier) and she was so excited to see all the other cute dogs there that she was pulling me there by the end. So anyway, to cut a long story short, later in the night a few people with learning difficulties came into the pub and had a field day with Tia. She loved it, she wasn't judgemental in any way, she just wagged her tail lots and gave them rather cute little kisses and it was fun. In the end I agreed to come back to the pub with Tia more often (as long as they bring back Top Hat, I miss that beer very much).

So in conclusion, dogs and cats are therapeutic don't you think? And hopefully so is the USB LP player...

 Comments
</default:description>

Mainly because it seems someone in Ukraine has been copying...

I was wondering why this never happens in Liverpool?

On another note, it's still the final countdown till my scans and I really really really want to drink beer right now but alas I am banned!!! Work has been stressing me out and I just realised that I have forgotten something majorly important for tomorrow morning. Looks like I will be going to work early to do it, the problem is I don't know if 45 mins will be enough! *stress stress*

So one week ago last Monday I spent nine hours in hospital waiting for a Dr to see me about pains I've been having just above my groin. Yes, it's not the usual place for pains, so when I first started having them (the night of the Mathew Street festival) I went straight to the Dr.

At this stage I was diagnosed with a hernia!!!!! This is even though I've lifted about as much weight as a jellied eel over the past few months. So ok, I said I would give it a week and "walk it off" since "most hernias sort themselves out pretty quickly".

One week later and the pain was much worse, and last Sunday sharp pains actually woke me up. Basically if I were a woman I'd say it was in my ovaries - but since I don't have any God knows what it is! So the next day I went back to the Dr's and he referred me straight to A&E.

Nine hours later I still hadn't seen a Doctor. So some pre-op woman came and had a fiddle and prodded me a lot and pretty much decided there and then that I wasn't in any immediate danger. I should come back as an outpatient (but I could stay there overnight without the guarantee of a scan any time soon).

So I asked the nurse three times if I could have a quick appointment, and I made sure it would be posted out the next morning. Two days later I got my appointment...

5th November!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the love of God, come on. What's wrong with this country??????

So actually I was pretty much in the mood to rant an extremely heavy ranting blog about how crap things are here for us pawns when it comes to the health service, but then I got another letter today. My new appointment is on 30th September.

So joy, I now have less days to wait for my scan and I still have the pains. Trouble is my body has adapted to them now. I don't even know if that makes sense but it's made me wonder if maybe I was too much of a hypochondriac after all? I know I shouldn't have these pains but it doesn't feel like they are affecting my life quite like they were at the beginning. They are still not exactly as cute as having a pet puppy mind you.

So that's my daily rant!

In other news I saw Whiteout tonight. Good film, out of 100 I'd give it about a 64. No where near as good as District 9 mind you, that was one of the best films I've ever seen. Top two for sure, it might even have ousted Donnie Darko!!!

Problem is, I still can't walk past the frozen fish section without pointing and shouting "fookin prawns" (I do it oh so well with my scouse accent).

Ta ra for now...
